We are excited to offer another day of exploring the Enneagram and mindfulness, covering brand-new material drawn from recent updates to the Enneagram.
The Enneagram began as a spiritual map nearly two thousand years ago to answer the question, “What stands between me and the divine?” It was updated in the 1970s to make it more accessible to lay people. This spirit of innovation continues as our school, The Narrative Enneagram, has expanded the Enneagram to make it more relevant to diverse cultures. We will explore these updated perspectives in our program.
The spiritual dimension of the Enneagram reminds us that we are more than our type. This dimension is accessible through “Greater Knowings” (traditionally called “Holy Ideas”), which are specific ways of knowing, unique to each type, the oneness and wholeness of reality.
The day will consist of alternating periods of mindfulness meditation and exploration of the Narrative Enneagram’s Greater Knowings, such as faith, freedom, love, and wisdom, through sharing on panels and discussion.
These two ancient approaches mutually reinforce one another. For example, knowing the patterns of our type helps us let go more readily into mindfulness, while mindfulness helps us experience the patterns in a more intimate and embodied way. When we become mindful of the habitual patterns of our type, we relax, let go and take life more lightly. From this, we open to wonder, possibility, and the Greater Knowings that access our spiritual nature.
In short, the approaches combine to foster abiding happiness and well-being. We think you will enjoy this unique day of personal exploration and meditation!
